In KCR, we read the book “The Best Part of Me” by Wendy Ewald. We’ve discussed personality and character traits along with physical traits that make us similar and unique. Following the conversation, we wrote what we like about ourselves. Some students mentioned liking their: eyes, hair, hearts, nose, etc. Some students added further descriptions such as “brown eyes”, “soft hair”, etc. Other students chose to write why they like that part of them. One example of this was “I like my legs. They help me move”. After writing, we created our self portraits using pencil for drawing, water colour for painting, and water colour pencil crayons to add detail.
