Grade 1 students have been practicing their art skills in recent classes. We have learned how to gently use paintbrushes to create beautiful watercolor skies after reading Peter Reynold's book entitled, "Sky Color." Then we read a book that featured art by Paul Klee - specifically how he created skylines of building by stacking shapes. We recycled the protective covers that come on new books by using these to find bright colors and textures. We practiced our cutting and gluing skills while discussing shapes. All in all, a full, busy and beautiful art lesson!
