In grade 2 we are working on strategies to add and subtract double digit numbers as we grow in our understanding about numbers. We value working together using manipulatives, pictures, and symbols. At the teacher table we have a small group of students using pictures of ten frame cards to build the 2-digit number, then add or subtract another number while keeping track on the individual white boards. At the carpet we have two students ready to record and share their thinking for a problem-solving activity. We believe in working together, learning from mistakes and sharing our thinking!
