In 1BSm we love to learn through play. Our latest dramatic play station was The Super Donut Shop. Students were the drivers of this station and decided what was needed for the this play centre. Students designed their own menu with items they thought were important in a bakery. As a team we had conversations about how much we thought each item should be. This centre involved a lot of conversation and cooperation between students.
Through this centre we worked on adding to their vocabulary and spelling new words. In math we did word problems about how much it would be to buy multiple items in our shop. One of our favourite parts was making our own donuts for the station. This station allowed students to interact with each other and build positive relationships in the classroom. Students took pride in organizing and creating this station. Next up, a grocery store!
